Today we&#8217;re going to toss out the last 55 years of academic history regarding the discovery of magic mushrooms, the beginnings of the field of ethnomycology, and this major event in launching the psychedelic revolution; and we&#8217;re going to start a new history &#8211; one based on truth and verifyable facts rather than legends and myths.

Six years in the making, this episode exposes one of the largest coverups in modern academic history &#8211; something that may one day be as large as the Piltdown Hoax. We&#8217;re going to reveal how the psychedelic revolution was launched by the CFR, CIA and the elite, and how R. Gordon Wasson, the so called discoverer of magic mushrooms, and the founder of the field of ethnomycology, was himself a government asset, a friend of Edward Bernays &#8211; the father of propaganda, and is one of the key figures for launching one of the largest mind control operations in history &#8211; information never before revealed until today. And it doesn&#8217;t stop there. I&#8217;m going to provide information that shows how R. Gordon Wasson may have been one of the key players in the organization of the JFK assassination.

Gilad Atzmon was born in Israel in 1963 and had his musical training at the Rubin Academy of Music, Jerusalem (Composition and Jazz). As a multi-instrumentalist he plays Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Baritone Saxes, Clarinet and Flutes. His album Exile was the BBC jazz album of the year in 2003. He has been described by John Lewis on the Guardian as the &#8220;hardest-gigging man in British jazz&quot;. His albums, of which he has recorded nine to date, often explore political themes and the music of the Middle East.
Until 1994 he was a producer-arranger for various Israeli Dance &amp; Rock Projects, performing in Europe and the USA playing ethnic music as well as R&amp;R and Jazz.
Coming to the UK in 1994, Atzmon recovered an interest in playing the music of the Middle East, North Africa and Eastern Europe that had been in the back of his mind for years. In 2000 he founded the Orient House Ensemble in London and started re-defining his own roots in the light of his emerging  political awareness. Since then the Orient House Ensemble has toured all over the world. The  Ensemble includes Eddie Hick on Drums, Yaron Stavi on Bass and Frank Harrison on piano &amp; electronics.
Also, being a prolific writer, Atzmon's essays are widely published. His novels 'Guide to the perplexed' and 'My One And Only Love' have been translated into 24 languages. Gilad's latest book, The Wandering Who? is a study of Jewish Identity political identity.  It will be published in English in October 2011.

Jan Irvin, host of the popular Gnostic Media podcast stops by to talk about the Trivium education. This podcast covers a general overview of what the Trivium is and how a knowledge of the Trivium can help you discern what is 'true' from what is fallacious. 

The Trivium is an ancient method of critical thinking that has three components; grammar, logic, and rhetoric. These three components make up the only three of the seven Liberal Arts. The other four concepts are covered in the Quadrivium (but we did not cover that in this episode).

Jan explains how the sophisticated class (the elites, the sophists, the powerful) has employed the Trivium to use mind control over the lower classes of society. Due to the fact that the educated class has access to better critical thinking skills they employ techniques to manipulate the minds of the less educated. Think of advertisements, campaign slogans, and government propaganda.

With a knowledge of the Trivium (which can be self-taught and is easily accessible) anyone can quickly learn techniques to identify logical fallacies and propaganda.

The Trivium is an ancient method of critical thinking that has three components; grammar, logic, and rhetoric. These three components make up the only three of the seven Liberal Arts. The other four concepts are covered in the Quadrivium (but we did not cover that in this episode).

Jan explains how the sophisticated class (the elites, the sophists, the powerful) has employed the Trivium to use mind control over the lower classes of society. Due to the fact that the educated class has access to better critical thinking skills they employ techniques to manipulate the minds of the less educated. Think of advertisements, campaign slogans, and government propaganda.

With a knowledge of the Trivium (which can be self-taught and is easily accessible) anyone can quickly learn techniques to identify logical fallacies and propaganda.

Joseph Atwill spent his youth in Japan where he attended the only English-speaking school in the country, St. Mary's Military Academy. The school was run by Jesuits so removed from the events of the modern world that they did not even consider shutting it down during World War II, and taught a curriculum that had not changed since the eighteenth century. Joseph Atwill describes that, &quot;The majority of every one of my school days was spent studying Greek, Latin and the Bible, which for some reason I found fascinating.&quot;

After studying computer science in college, Atwill began working with one of the most renowned programmers in the world, David Ferguson. David had been granted the first two patents ever issued in computer software. Over the next twenty years, between 1975 and 1995, David Ferguson and Joseph Atwill started a series of companies including Ferguson Tool Company and ASNA. &quot;After selling my interests in our companies to investors in 1995, I returned to my earlier interest; the origins of Christianity,&quot; Atwill says of this time period.

Atwill continues, &quot;Though I had drifted away from the Catholic faith, my study of Christianity never stopped. Over the course of my life I had read perhaps six or seven hundred books relating to the historical Jesus and early Christianity, but none of them left me feeling like I really knew anything about how the religion began or its founder.&quot; Atwill contends that the more he studied Christian origins the more he saw the question of how the religion began as an open one. Atwill held this position in spite of the fact that in the popular mind, and in the minds of most scholars, Christianity began as a movement of lower class followers of a radical Jewish teacher in the 1st century CE.

Says Atwill, &quot;I did not share in this certainty.&quot; What contributed most to his skepticism was that at the exact time the followers of Jesus were purportedly organizing themselves into a religion that urged its members to &#8220;turn the other cheek&#8221; and to &#8220;give to Caesar what is Caesar&#8217;s&#8221;, another Judean sect was waging a religious war against the Romans and seeking a Messiah who would lead them militarily. Atwill continues, &quot;It seemed implausible to me that two diametrically opposite forms of messianic Judaism would have emerged from Judea at the same time. So the Dead Sea Scrolls became of such interest to me that I began what turned into a decade-long study of them.&quot; Like others, Atwill was hoping to learn something of Christian origins in the 2,000 year old documents found at Qumran. To assist in his understanding of them, Atwill began studying the history of the era.

It was then that Joseph Atwill came across the key that led to his discoveries. &quot;While reading Josephus' War of the Jews, and his account of Titus' destruction of Jerusalem in 70 CE,&quot; Atwill recounts, &quot;I noticed some curious parallels.  At first I could make no sense of the parallels between Titus' campaign and Jesus' ministry.  So I tried to look at the Gospels with fresh eyes, as if I had never seen them before, giving up any preconceived notions about what they meant.&quot; This perspective resulted in the discoveries Atwill presents in Caesar's Messiah and his soon-to-be-published book, The Single Strand. A Roman imperial family, the Flavians, had created Christianity, and, even more incredibly, they had placed a literary satire within the Gospels and War of the Jews to inform posterity of this fact.

Understanding the symbolic framework for the Gospels opened up the hidden history of Western Civilization to Joseph Atwill. That framework enabled him to recognize the typology that underlies authors such as Marlowe and Shakespeare and see the incredible story their typology tells us, and is the basis for The Single Strand. 

Joseph Atwill concludes, &quot;I am an avid chess player and proud to state that I have more than 100 victories over Grandmasters and International Masters.  I hold an ICC Masters rating of 2358.&quot; It is this form of strategic thinking that enabled Atwill to uncover the strategy behind the Romans' invention of the Gospels.

In this show we take a journey to the dark side &#8211; the dark side of shamanism &#8211; in our interview with Prof. Neil Whitehead, who was the victim of a Kanaima, or dark shaman attack in Guyana.

This show focuses on countering the New Age presentations of &#8220;shamanism&#8221; in western culture, and seeks to create balance, as well as educate about the dangers of dark shamanism &#8211; and the ignorance thereof.

Neil Whitehead is Professor of Anthropology at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He graduated from Oxford University in 1984 with a Ph.D. in Anthropology.

Happy New Year, everyone, we&#8217;ve made it to 2012, and Terence McKenna&#8217;s end of the world is soon upon us, or so we&#8217;re to believe.

But today I&#8217;ve got someone very special for you, someone who&#8217;ll help you see through all of the bullshit. Today, for our episode #133, the long awaited Gene Odening is back to teach us about what lies beyond the trivium. We&#8217;ll be discussing the difference between Plato and Aristotelian philosophy, as well as teaching the trivium to children.

 

This is the story of the 3 successive stages of the &#8220;Philosophic Life&#8221; which almost all of us live. Some of us live it consciously, others, not so much.
Gene&#8217;s story is one of good fortune. Early in adolescence he was given the tools to recognize and to pursue the Philosophic Life, which he undertook to do, not as a vocation but as a serious hobbyist. This is part of what the talk is about, defining those tools and following time-tested ways of applying them.
Gene lived through the first part, the Stage of Preparing For Life, in a fashion which the ancient Vedic Sages called: &#8220;Learning by grazing through the fields of the Brahma (the Creator God), in sobriety, and with a guru&#8221;. He even had his own guru! He graduated from this stage in a less than sober state. At age 18 . . . He ingested the Eucharist in fact, rather than only in effigy, and had his Crown Chakra opened.
When he was 20 years old, he began the second part, the Stage of Receiving From Life. This is when he began his vocational career and started his family life. Life was good. He and his wife traveled many parts of the English speaking world scouring the libraries in particular; she reading her beloved fiction; he in the reference and antiquarian sections. His quest was to find out what Money was. Money is a very elusive thing. As ghostly as it is, it takes up much of our life&#8217;s time and energy. By happenstance, in pursuit of its secrets, almost all other known topics come into view for a closer examination, including Philosophy, a treasure beyond measure.
As he reached the age of about 56, he had the realization that he was now in the final stage, the Stage of Giving Back To Life. This is when one should properly become the elder advisor, not &#8216;offering&#8217; advise, but giving of it freely when asked. It is also the time of beginning one&#8217;s journey through mentality. This is the time of: &#8220;Examining a life which has been worth living&#8221;, as the Greek sage Socrates counceled.

Dr. Martineau has recorded more than ten CDs in various genres, and has also been featured on numerous other artists&#8217; recordings, as pianist, music director, and producer. He provides scores, arrangements, original compositions, soundtracks, sound design, accompaniment, private instruction, and musical direction for a diverse and eclectic client base.

Dr. Martineau works in multiple capacities with many different idioms and styles, from world fusion and jazz, to avant-garde, industrial, rock, pop, and classical. Recently he orchestrated string arrangements by Vanessa Carlton for her latest album &#8220;Heroes and Thieves&#8221;. He has also authored a book on music theory released October 2008 entitled &#8220;The Elements of Music,&#8221; published by Wooden Books and Walker Books/Bloomsbury, distributed both nationally and internationally. His film scores have been featured in documentaries broadcast on PBS stations around the US since 1998. He also provides music cues and backgrounds for a large variety of multimedia projects. SCOTT A. OLSEN, Ph.D. Professor of Philosophy &amp; Religion at the College of Central Florida, Scott first received international acclaim by successfully decoding the geometric mysteries of Plato. SCOTT A. OLSEN, Ph.D. Professor of Philosophy &amp; Religion at the College of Central Florida, Scott first received international acclaim by successfully decoding the geometric mysteries of Plato. His book, The Golden Section: Nature&#8217;s Greatest Secret received rave reviews, and in 2007 was awarded a 1st place for design by the Bookbinders&#8217; Guild of New York. A life-long student of the Ancient Wisdom, he has studied under physicist David Bohm, world religion expert Huston Smith, sacred geometers Keith Critchlow &amp; John Michell, and esotericist Douglas Baker. My interview with Michael Labossiere was recorded on January 09, 2010. Michael LaBossiere is a guy from Maine who went to school in Ohio and ended up in Florida. Professionally he is a philosophy professor at Florida A&amp;M University. He started teaching there in the Fall of 1993 and greatly enjoy his choice of careers. He teaches a wide variety of classes that range from Aesthetics (theories of art and beauty) to Theory of Knowledge. His first philosophy book, What Don&#8217;t You Know? hit the shelves in the spring of 2008. He also blogs for The Philosophers&#8217; Magazine and has numerous academic publications.       <title>Gene Odening interview, Part 1 &#8211; &#8220;The TRIVIUM Method&#8221; &#8211; #049 (+ video)</title>

Tonight&#8217;s show is an important one. Without it, it&#8217;s hard to build on the information presented in the other shows. Here we begin to learn about learning, logic, critical thinking, Hegelian dialectics, Plato, the Trivium, the Quadrivium, the 7 liberal arts, and many other facets of human cognizance.

My guest is Gene Odening.
This is the story of the 3 successive stages of the &#8220;Philosophic Life&#8221; which almost all of us live. Some of us live it consciously, others, not so much.
Gene&#8217;s story is one of good fortune. Early in adolescence he was given the tools to recognize and to pursue the Philosophic Life, which he undertook to do, not as a vocation but as a serious hobbyist. This is part of what the talk is about, defining those tools and following time-tested ways of applying them.
Gene lived through the first part, the Stage of Preparing For Life, in a fashion which the ancient Vedic Sages called: &#8220;Learning by grazing through the fields of the Brahma (the Creator God), in sobriety, and with a guru&#8221;. He even had his own guru! He graduated from this stage in a less than sober state. At age 18 . . . He ingested the Eucharist in fact, rather than only in effigy, and had his Crown Chakra opened. That is, he had his mind blown on large doses of LSD.
When he was 20 years old, he began the second part, the Stage of Receiving From Life. This is when he began his vocational career and started his family life. Life was good. He and his wife traveled many parts of the English speaking world scouring the libraries in particular; she reading her beloved fiction; he in the reference and antiquarian sections. His quest was to find out what Money was. Money is a very elusive thing. As ghostly as it is, it takes up much of our life&#8217;s time and energy. By happenstance, in pursuit of its secrets, almost all other known topics come into view for a closer examination, including Philosophy, a treasure beyond measure.
As he reached the age of about 56, he had the realization that he was now in the final stage, the Stage of Giving Back To Life. This is when one should properly become the elder advisor, not &#8216;offering&#8217; advise, but giving of it freely when asked. It is also the time of beginning one&#8217;s journey through mentality. This is the time of: &#8220;Examining a life which has been worth living&#8221;, as the Greek sage Socrates counceled.
